چکیده

A common method to create high dynamic range (HDR) images is to combine several different exposures of the same scene. In this approach, the use of higher ISO settings will reduce exposure times, and thereby the total capture time. This is advantageous in certain environments where it may help minimize ghosting artifacts. However, exposures taken at high sensitivity settings tend to be noisy, which is further amplified by the HDR creation algorithm. We present a robust and efficient technique to significantly reduce noise in an HDR image even when its constituent exposures are taken at very high ISO settings. The method does not introduce blur or other artifacts, and leverages the wealth of information available in a sequence of aligned exposures. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Ghost and Noise Removal in Exposure Fusion for High Dynamic Range Imaging

For producing a single high dynamic range image (HDRI), multiple low dynamic range images (LDRIs) are captured with different exposures and combined. In high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, local motion of objects and noise in a set of LDRIs can influence a final HDRI: local motion of objects causes the ghost artifact and LDRIs, especially captured with under-exposure, make the final HDRI noisy. I...

Assessment of the Wavelet Transform for Noise Reduction in Simulated PET Images

Introduction: An efficient method of tomographic imaging in nuclear medicine is positron emission tomography (PET). Compared to SPECT, PET has the advantages of higher levels of sensitivity, spatial resolution and more accurate quantification. However, high noise levels in the image limit its diagnostic utility. Noise removal in nuclear medicine is traditionally based on Fourier decomposition o...

Radiance Domain Compositing for High Dynamic Range Imaging

High dynamic range imaging aims at creating an image with a range of intensity variations larger than the range supported by a camera sensor. Most commonly used methods combine multiple exposure low dynamic range (LDR) images, to obtain the high dynamic range (HDR) image. Available methods typically neglect the noise term while finding appropriate weighting functions to estimate the camera resp...

Phased array ultrasonic imaging using an improved beamforming based total focusing method for non destructive test

One of the novel ultrasonic phased array based scanning methods for ultrasonic imaging in non-destructive test is total focusing method (TFM). This method employs maximum available information of the phased array elements and leads to an improved defect detection accuracy compared to conventional scanning methods. Despite its high detection accuracy, TFM behaves weak in distinguishing the real ...

Noise reduction in high dynamic range images

Multiple images with different exposures are used to produce a high dynamic range (HDR) image. Sometimes high sensitivity setting is needed for capturing images in low light condition as in an indoor room. However, current digital cameras do not produce a high-quality HDR image when noise occurs in low light condition or high sensitivity setting. In this paper, we propose a noise reduction meth...
